It is known that Peruvian Cacao is one of the best, if not the best, in the world. That’s why the International Chocolate Awards was pleased to announce the Winners of the 2023 edition of the Peruvian Cacao Country Support Competition, also known as 8vo Concurso Nacional de Chocolate Peruano, judged remotely in Peru including an international pool of the most prestigious judges and Grand Jury. This event took place during May and June of the present year.
The winners were announced nearly a month later, most exactly on July 16th in our capital, Lima as part of the Salón de Cacao y Chocolate in person; it was also transmitted via Zoom and Facebook. The heartwarming ceremony was filled with gratitude and pride, all the Gold winners expressing how thankful they were with the cacao farmers and teams. This year’s competition was full of new entrants and several first time winners.
The event, held in Lima, showcased emotional moments as the awardees expressed gratitude to the cocoa farmers. Cacaosuyo stood out as a multiple winner, receiving high scores and praise for understanding Peruvian cocoa. The use of the finest cocoas and specific roasting profiles highlighted the excellence of Peruvian chocolatiers. Additionally, some participants incorporated iconic regional ingredients, showcasing the diversity of Peruvian flavors in their products.
Thanks to prestigious awards that acknowledge the quality and rich flavor of our cocoa, it has become a magnet for the interest of international brands seeking to incorporate it as a key ingredient in their products. A notable example is 'Feastables,' the chocolate line curated by the American YouTuber Mr. Beast. This exclusive chocolate collection boasts diverse offerings, including tantalizing combinations like chocolate infused with Maras sea salt and an enticing quinoa crunch.
The popularity of these delectable chocolates has soared, commanding significant demand at retail outlets. What's particularly noteworthy is that these sought-after treats are meticulously produced right here in our country, with dedicated local workers contributing to their creation. This not only underscores the global appeal of our cocoa but also highlights the skill and dedication of our local workforce in delivering products that captivate international audiences.
