Exports play a fundamental role in Peru's economy as they are a key driver for the country's growth and development. Peru is a nation rich in natural resources such as minerals, agricultural products, and fishery resources, and these exports represent a significant portion of its income. In addition to generating revenue, exports also contribute to diversifying the economy, reducing dependence on specific sectors, and creating employment opportunities.
The opening of international markets has allowed Peruvian companies to expand their operations and reach new consumers worldwide, thereby promoting investment and innovation. Furthermore, foreign trade fosters competitiveness by compelling companies to improve the quality of their products and services.
At the beginning of the century, what Peru exported most were vegetables, for example, asparagus. But 15 years ago, fruit shipments abroad began to grow and currently it is what is exported the most. With its performance in 2022, Peru could already be among the top 10 fruit exporters in the world. The Agro-Export Management of the Association of Exporters (ADEX) maintains that blueberries are the fruit that Peru exports the most, fresh grapes occupy second place.
Peru is at the center of an exciting development in the fresh grape export industry, which represents a significant milestone for our Peruvian agricultural industry. The opening of new commercial opportunities has been announced with the export of fresh grapes from the South American country, finding a new market in the Far East. This milestone marks a significant step in the expansion of international markets for Peru and promises to further strengthen its position as one of the main exporters of fresh products in the world.
- Alexandra Garcia: This milestone, such as the first shipment of fresh grapes to Japan, opens the doors of exports not only of this fruit, to the Southeast Asian market, which will bring a great benefit not only for the country's economy but for companies. like Verfrut, which, being a company from Piura and despite being affected by the child phenomenon, has been able to have this achievement and be an example of what is coming for the country.
- Ximena Hinostroza: As opposed to what we’re used to seeing in the news, this kind of reports are pleasing to read and know about, since it helps us realize that our country has numerous positive aspects and, as our name mentions, good news beyond the headlines. I also consider that these should be widely spread, thereby the rest of the citizens can be well informed about the news that promote economic growth and bring new opportunities to our country.
- Alisson Gutierrez: This event once again demonstrates the quality of our products, as the Japanese market is renowned for its high standards in quality and food safety. It's comforting to see that the country, despite the many challenges it faces, can achieve feats like this, becoming the world's leading exporter of grapes. Let's hope that the country can continue to grow in every possible aspect.
